Amanda Stanec, PhD, is the founder of Move Live Learn and believes that all children ought to be raised in a community that supports their physical literacy journey. Dr. Stanec was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada where physical activity was encouraged. She played college soccer for St. Francis Xavier University and later attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a Masters of Science with an emphasis in Physical Education and Sport Psychology. Dr. Stanec then earned a PhD in Kinesiology within the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia where she was recognized as the outstanding doctoral student in her graduating year (2006). A former teacher and university professor, Dr. Stanec founded Move Live Learn while taking time off to raise her young children.
